The Los Angeles Lakers legend LeBron James is one of the greatest basketball players ever to have existed. He’s also one of the very few athletes who actively pay attention and comment on political issues today.
While many of his fans on the woker side of things appreciate him for it, many are of the opinion that he should keep doing what he’s good at, and not meddle with political commentary. James has infuriated many without caring about his position in the business, which has contributed to his decreased ratings throughout the years.
Soccer player Zlatan Ibrahimović has called out James on his involvement with politics, suggesting that he should only do the thing he’s the best at. Ibrahimović stated in an interview with Discovery+ Sweden that:
[LeBron] is phenomenal at what he’s doing, but I don’t like when people have some kind of status, they go and do politics at the same time. Do what you’re good at. Do the category you do. I play football because I’m the best at playing football. I don’t do politics. If I would be a political politician, I would do politics.

That is the big first mistake people do when they become famous and they become in a certain status. Stay out of it. Just do what you do best because it doesn’t look good.
This is not the first time that the basketball tycoon has been challenged for his views on politics. Back in 2018, a Fox News Host named Laura Ingraham called him out for commenting on a political issue, going so far as to say that he should “shut up & dripple.”
LeBron struck back and said:
We live in a, we’re back to everything I’ve been talking about for the last few years. It lets me know that everything I’ve been saying is correct for her to have that type of reaction. But we will definitely not shut up and dribble. I will definitely not do that. I mean too much to society, I mean too much to the youth, I mean too much to so many kids that feel like they don’t have a way out and they need someone to help lead them out of the situation they’re in.
While the NBA wishes to steer clear of politics at every chance they get, it seems that LeBron James will not be stopping any time soon.
