Big Sean has opened up previously about his battle with anxiety. This has made him a significant voice when it comes to raising awareness about mental health.
The rapper talked about how he struggled with suicidal thoughts on a new episode on One Question, One Mike with Dr. Michael Eric Dyson.
In the interview, Big Sean mentions how he had thought about killing himself in detail. He even went as far as holding a gun in his hand and calculating his finances to see how much money would his close ones receive.
The rapper is heard saying,
I for sure contemplated suicide a lot of times,” said Sean. “Having guns in my hands and really just… feeling it, for real. Not even trying to be dramatic. Even planning it out to the point where, hey, if I do kill myself, at least my family will get this amount of money.
He goes on to say,
Because I just was stressed out and not happy and I realized that I need to stop everything I’m doing and figure this out or I’ma self-destruct.
Sean then says that he ended up taking time out for himself and going for therapy. He even canceled his tour and pushed back his album. We are glad that he feels better now.
