It is no news that Johnny Depp has been going through a sort of personal and public hell lately. His vicious legal battle and divorce with Amber Heard have greatly damaged his career. With getting let gone from prominent roles from the Pirates Of The Caribbean & the Fantastic Beasts franchise, Johnny Depp really needs a win.
Finally, there’s some good news regarding Johnny Depp, as his long awaited movie, City of Lies, is soon to come out. In the movie inspired by true crime, detective Russell Poole and journalist Jack Jackson (played by Forest Whitaker) take a deep dive into the nature of the crime that was Biggie Smalls’ murder.
Christopher Wallace, also known as Biggie & The Notorious B.I.G. was one of the greatest names in rap. Biggie got gunned down in a drive-by Los Angeles shooting. March 9th, the day on which the movie’s trailer was released, also marks the death-anniversary of Biggie.
The film will be showing the late 90s L.A. in all its glory. Theories such as Biggie’s murder being a response to 2Pac’s death will play a prominent part in the movie.
A Netflix documentary celebrating the life and music of Biggie also premiered on Netflix, named Biggie: I’ve Got A Story To Tell. It’ll be interesting to watch both these movies since the City Of Lies directly tries tackling the riddle of Biggie’s murder, while examining the trail left behind it. The movie will be released on 19th March, 2021.
