An Oklahoma high school basketball announcer was recently caught saying the n-word to players when they were kneeling during the National Anthem. The incident took place at Norman High School during a girls game.
TMZ spoke to the racist announcer and it was revealed that the announcer said the n-word due to a spike in sugar levels. 44-year-old Matt Rowan admitted that it was him so said the offensive remarks about the girl’s basketball team while they were kneeling for the national anthem.
“I will state that I suffer Type 1 Diabetes and during the game, my sugar was spiking. While not excusing my remarks, it is not unusual when my sugar spikes that I become disoriented and often say things that are not appropriate as well as hurtful. I do not believe that I would have made such horrible statements absent my sugar spiking.”
He went on to apologize for sing the n-word.
“I’m absolutely speechless for my rhetoric. I want to offer my deepest apologies to these girls because I hurt them. The N-word] should never be thought much less muttered.”
The Oklahoma Secondary School Activities Association had previously announced that Thursday night’s broadcast crew has been removed from the rest of the tournament. Hopefully, the man has learned his lesson and never says such an offensive racist remark ever again.
