Megan Thee Stallion has a lot to be happy about on music’s biggest night. She and Beyonce just made history.

Beyonce and Megan Thee Stallion became the first women to win the Best Rap Performance category thanks to their “Savage” track. That song originally came from Thee Stallion’s “Suga” solo project, but then Beyonce got on the track for the remix that helped propel the song to #1.

The best Rap Performance award was created in 1989, but it was split into Best Rap Solo and Best Rap Performance By A Duo or Group in 1990. Then they combined them again in 2012 to just make one Best Rap Performance award. Prior to this year, it had only been won by men for the past 11 years.

This award marks Megan Thee Stallion’s first Grammy award. She is also nominated for Record Of The Year and Best New Artist. This win marks Beyonce’s 25th win.

H Jenkins

Years of experience in writing, journalism, and digging exclusive insider info for Ringside News opened the door for a new opportunity for Jenkins. With a history in finance, he broke into the journalism game by writing on blogs and other freelance websites before branching into sports and entertainment news. Being in tune with pop culture doesn't mean it has to make sense, but he tries. Favorite bands include any group from Seattle who formed between 1991 and 1999. 5 Ozzfests under his belt and 12 Warped Tours, but his last concert was a bluegrass AC/DC cover band that was not 100% terrible.
