The main event of UFC Vegas 21 saw No. 3 ranked Leon Edwards fight against Belal Muhammad. The fight was called off and was ruled as a no-contest after Muhammad was hit with a brutal eye poke at the hands of Edwards.

It seems Muhammad seemingly expected Edwards to use an eye poke in the fight. After the end of the fight, Muhammad took to Twitter and claimed that he told referee Herb Dean to watch Edward’s fingers as it was likely the fighter was going to use an eye poke.

”We literally told @HerbDeanMMA in the back prefight that we’re looking to wrestle so please watch his fingers.”

UFC light heavyweight Jamahal Hill also expected Edwards to use an eye poke as he noted Edwards had extended his fingers, which prevented Muhammad from charging forward.

Leon is keeping him back with extended fingers not the threat of strikes!!!

We will have to see whether Muhammad and Edwards will have a rematch. as Edwards certainly didn’t seem all that excited about it in the post-fight press conference.
