Colby Covington is a strong contender for the welterweight championship, except he has no fights to currently look forward to. Stephen “Wonder Boy” Thompson has more than enough intention to change that, as he took to Twitter to challenge Colby.
Wonder Boy posted on Twitter that he would like to pick a fight with the championship contender, and it seems like he truly is ready to engage in a heated battle. He tweeted:
Stephen Thompson has been playing the villain for a while, going as far as talking trash about Colby and several other welterweight fighters in an interview with Submission Radio. He proclaimed himself to be the “welterweight king” and said that there’s no stopping him at 170.
Colby hasn’t fought since September 2020, when he got his win against Tyron Woodly, the former champ, that came about after the five rounds were done and the decision was made. However, Stephen has been enjoying his two-win streak. The 38-year old’s win was against the Muay Thai specialist Vicente Luque at UFC 244 in September 2019, after which the expert kickboxer took out Geoff Neal in December 2020.
