Rob Gronkowski has always been of the idea after his return that he does not play without his buddy Tom Brady. After he joined the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and went on to win Super Bowl LV with them. He suggested that he wants to return to the Tampa Bay, though he still wants to reap the opportunities of being a free agent.
On Monday, Gronkowski finally got his shot after he resigned with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for $10 million, as per Adam Schefter. After he was set to be a free agent, he at least wanted to see what that process felt like. On his latest appearance on the The Ringer’s 10 Question’s With Kyle Brandt, he stated:
I’ve never been a part of the free agency process, so I actually want to dip my toes in just to see what’s out there.
As per Michael Silver, Rob Gronkowski also flirted with the idea of signing with the Buffalo Bulls. Since they are looking for a tight end for their team, it could have been the perfect opportunity for the both of them. But it just wasn’t meant to be. Even though he couldn’t sign with them, Gronk had to at least consider the possibility, given that he was a free agent.
While Gronk is only 31 years old, he still has a lot left in his tank. After he came back from his retirement from the NFL to play with his buddy Tom Brady, it seems that he wants to be a free agent at the end of every season.
I plan on being a free agent after every season, I feel like I’m a one-year deal guy for the rest of my career. Even if I play for 10 more years, I’m gonna be a one-year deal guy, a free agent every year, and control my destiny every year.
