It seems Fat Joe is about to go through a really hard time. After he was featured as a guest on Bunny The Butcher’s The Plugs I Met 2, he had some bars that were pretty outrageous to some. In the track named “Talkin’ Back” he raps what some fans deem to be some of the most insensitive lyrics to date:
Track me in and out of court, Harvey Weinstein
Threw that white up in the pot, gave ’em pipe dreams
And watch it spread like the Wuhan virus
Do ’em dirty for the low like Wu-Tang ’Sirus (ODB)
While he sounds somewhat in favor of Harvey Weinstein, he also ended up sounding as if he hates Asians. His bars have especially enraged people as they sound completely anti-Asian, and anti-Asian racism has been on a steady rise since the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic.
A report by the NPR titled “The Rise In Anti-Asian Attacks During The COVID-19 Pandemic” revealed that:
In the wake of the coronavirus pandemic, racism and harassment toward Asian Americans have increased.
This culture of anti-Asian hate and racism has been causing violent incidents against them, such as a mass drive-by shooting in Atlanta on March 16th by a 21-year old Robert Aaron Long.
By writing such irresponsibly insensitive lyrics, perhaps Fat Joe has turned his own fanbase against himself. His fans were not happy, as they went on to unleash their wrath on Twitter.
