After UFC Champion Alex Volkanovsk ended up getting diagnosed with COVID-19 in the U.S., his mother got upset with the company and took to social media to criticize them. Volkanovski’s COVID-19 diagnosis made his mother Mary Volkanovski criticize UFC’s health and safety protocol.
Mary Volkanovski took to a MMA news website’s Facebook page to take her frustration out on the company. While her son’s fight was cancelled after his diagnosis, getting infected with COVID-19 itself was what broke the camel’s back for her.
She made a comment on a post saying:
I’m so upset with ufc .. Protect your fighters from other countries!!! They come clean and healthy and you infect them with covid!!! UFC promised they follow all safety protocol… Bulls***!
Another person tried to tell her that it’s probably not the UFC’s fault and that she didn’t need to act like it was UFC that gave Alex the infection, but she didn’t want to hear any of it. She responded with:
I’m his mother and I’m very upset [he’s] sick in another country and I’m very worried.. He caught covid in Las Vegas and that’s a fact if safety protocols were in place he wouldn’t have caught it.
While trolls tried to bait her into saying something crazy, she kept her cool and responded as the situation demanded. After a troll’s attempt at offending her, she replied with a snarky emoji to shut him down.
