The COVID-19 pandemic took over the entire world since last year and there seems to be no signs of it stopping anytime soon. Many people have lost their lives due to the virus and this includes Memphis native Vickie Quarles, a mother of five daughters whose husband, Theodis Ray Quarles, passed away from COVID-19.
Quarles had a GoFundMe set up by her “dear friend” DeQuanda Smith so that she can make ends meet after the demise of her husband. It seems Taylor Swift and her mother saw this and decided to help Quarles out.
Swift and her mother made a very generous donation of 50,000. Here is what the GoFundMe’s description:
“When the paramedics arrived to the Quarles’ home to transport Theodis to the hospital for breathing difficulties, Vicki wasn’t allowed to accompany her husband due to quarantine restrictions,” it read. “Little did she know that this would be her final engagement with her best friend.”
Thanks to Taylor and her mother’s donation helped the GoFundMe exceed its original goal of $50,000 by nearly $12,000.
This also is not the first time Swift helped someone out as she gave $13,000 each to a pair of mothers, Nikki Cornwell of Nashville and Shelbie Selewski from Michigan, who were having a hard time paying their bills.
