Fans in the late 90s and early 2000s certainly remember Ally McBeal, the legal drama which lasted five seasons after being cancelled in 2002. Now it seems a reboot of the series is in the works.
According to a report by TVLine, Calista Flockheart, who played the lead role in the original series, is currently in talks to reprise her role in the reboot of the show. It was said that the reboot is currently in the early stages of development and is said to be a ”limited series.”
While speaking to The Hollywood Reporter in 2018, Ally McBeal creator David E. Kelley stated that he will be an executive producer and also had hinted at a reboot series back then as well.
I do think because of the gender politics that were so part and parcel of Ally McBeal, it’s become very relevant and ripe. So, I’d be open to the idea of Ally McBeal being done again, but I don’t think it should be done by me. If it were going to be done, it really should be done by a woman. If it’s going to be new, it should be new and different. And I did it: 100 hours.
It is also a wonder whether they will be bringing back Robert Downey, Jr. and Jon Hamm to reprise their roles as well in the reboot. We will keep you updated on the reboot.
