Snake Eyes, the newest movie in the G.I. Joe franchise, is now going to release on July 23 this year as confirmed by Paramount.
The solo film features Henry Golding (of Crazy Rich Asians fame) as the titlular character based on the popular toyline. The film will be both a spin-off as well as a reboot to the G.I Joe film franchise.
Snake Eyes: G.I. Joe Origins was originally going to release in October 2020 but was delayed to October 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Keeping in tune with the summer release of the sleeper hit Godzilla vs. Kong, Paramount is willing to take an chance at their latest attempt at the G.I Joe franchise.
While most movie theaters will be opening up fully by the summer, there is still a level of uncertainty on how films will perform at the box office. Snake Eyes: G.I. Joe Origins is the first G.I. Joe film in eight years.
You can choose to see it in theaters or wait for 45 days for the film to show up on Paramount+. We will have to wait and see how the film performs given the advantage of a summer release.
