Conor McGregor said his fight against Dustin Poirier is off after he was called out for stiffing a charity on a $500,000 donation. Notorious won’t have any problem finding another opponent.
Poirier was supposed to face McGregor at UFC 264 on July 10th. McGregor said that fight is off after Poirier made accusations that Conor didn’t pay The Diamonds charity the 1/2 million that he promised. McGregor said that Dustin must be “new to money.” He also called him a dumb hillbilly.
The UFC has not commented on this supposedly-cancelled fight. The July 10th fight might still be on, especially if there is no way out of the contract. It’s also unclear whether Notorious will actually pull out of his third fight with Dustin Poirier. After all, he only tweeted that the fight is off.
Michael Chandler is already slated to fight #3 ranked Charles Oliveira on May 15th, but July 10th sounds like a good date for him as well.
May 15 and July 10…book it! #backtoback
We’ll have to see if the UFC books that back-to-back fight situation for Chandler. He certainly seems game to cash those paychecks. This story is still developing, but Michael Chandler also isn’t the only man throwing his hat in the Octagon to face Conor McGregor if his July 10th fight is really no longer happening.
