Actor Chadwick Boseman was destined for great things but he sadly passed away from colon cancer last August. In celebration of the Black Panther actor, Netflix put together an all-star team for Chadwick Boseman: Portrait of an Artist, that will explore “Boseman’s extraordinary commitment to his craft [and] an intimate look at the Oscar-nominated actor’s artistry and the acting process which informed his transformative performances.”

Audiences will get an exclusive peek into the actor’s off-screen presence recounted by the likes of Spike Lee, Danai Gurira, and Viola Davis.

Davis, who was Boseman’s Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom co-star was in awe of his dedication. The award-winning actress said:

“You know you have to step up when you’re in his presence “He’s looking at your work and he’s like really hyper focused on the craft, on the process.”

Boseman understandably had many admirers within the industry as well with the long list of participants featuring the likes of Brian Helgeland (42 director), Reginald Hudlin (Marshall director), Aakomon “AJ” Jones (Get On Up/Black Panther choreographer) and Woodie King Jr. (New Federal Theater director) among many others.

Chadwick Boseman: Portrait of an Artist will release on Netflix on April 17 for a limited 30-day window. We are eager to see his co-stars and directors give us a glimpse into what made his acting so powerful. You can watch the trailer below.
