Kanye West’s personal life might not be the best right now due to his divorce case with Kim Kardashian. West finally responded to Kardashian’s divorce papers recently and asked for the same thing as his ex-wife.
Despite his turbulent personal life, his business venture is simply booming. Last month, West’s Yeezy 450 shoes sold out in less than a minute. Ever since West partnered up with Adidas and launched his Yeezy brand in 2015, West has only seen insane profits.
Now it seems the first-ever prototype for the Yeezy shoes worn by West at the 2008 Grammy Awards, is expected to sell for an exorbitant amount. According to Business Insider, the prototype pair of Yeezys recently went for private sale at Sotheby’s, valued at $1 million.
The Nike Air Yeezy 1 Prototypes were the prototype created for the first Yeezy line in 2008 designed by West and Mark Smith for Nike. As stated by Sotheby’s, the shoes are the most valuable pair to ever be on the market.
Should the sneakers prototypes actually sell for $1 million, they will break the record for the most expensive sneaker sale in history. Currently, the record is held by a pair of Air Jordan 1s, which sold for around $500K last year in May.
The Yeezy samples will be on display at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre from April 16th through 21st. Those interested in buying the prototypes can speak directly with Sotheby’s sales directors.
