The long-standing rivalry between Conor McGregor and Dustin Poirier remains one of the most highly discussed topics in the MMA world. McGregor called off his upcoming fight against Poirier after a slew of accusations meted out by Poirier.
Many fans were wondering whether the trilogy fight will even happen after what McGregor said. However, now it seems all the speculations have been laid to rest
UFC president Dana White took to Twitter and uploaded a vudeo, where he confirmed the date and the venue of UFC 264, headlined by Conor McGregor v Dustin Poirier III.
“I am so happy to finally be able to say, Vegas is back. This summer, Las Vegas is back open for business, and on July 10th, UFC 264 will be at T-Mobile Arena here in Vegas at 100 percent capacity. Ladies and gentlemen, that’s 20,000 fans and this card will be headlined by the third fight between Dustin Poirier and Conor McGregor. Tickets go on sale this week.”
It seems the third fight between the two combatants will be taking place after all.
McGregor looking for other opponents was likely just a way to hype up the upcoming fight. We will have to see if McGregor will manage to defeat Poirier in July or he will suffer another crushing defeat.
