Helen McCrory, most famously known for playing the role of Narcissa Malfoy in the Harry Potter franchise and Aunt Polly in Peaky Blinders, has unfortunately passed away following a battle with cancer as confirmed by her husband.
Per her husband, she peacefully passed away at home surrounded by friends and family. In her career spanning 30 years, McCrory made a name for herself both on the small and the big screen.
She appeared in fan-favorites like Penny Dreadful, Fantastic Mr. Fox and more recently played Stelmaria in the Tv adaptation of Philip Pullman’s His Dark Materials. She was also a noted stage actor, with some of her National Theatre productions in the UK being broadcast and still available for modern audiences to find. She also played Clair Dowar in the 2012 James Bond film Skyfall.
Her husband Damien Lewis, in a statement posted online announce the sad news.
“I’m heartbroken to announce that after an heroic battle with cancer, the beautiful and mighty woman that is Helen McCrory has died peacefully at home, surrounded by a wave of love from friends and family, She died as she lived. Fearlessly. God we love her and know how lucky we are to have had her in our lives. She blazed so brightly. Go now, Little One, into the air, and thank you.”
McCrory is survived by husband , daughter Manon and 13-year-old son Gulliver. We offer our heartfelt condolences to the family in this time of grief.
