After months of hype and build-up, Jake Paul and Ben Askren finally faced off against each other on April 17th at Triller Fight Club.
However, the fight didn’t exactly live up to the hype for many fans as it ended far too quickly. Jake Paul knocked out Ben Askren in the first round and fans didn’t like that at all. Fans, UFC Fighters and even Chris Jericho called out the match for being rigged.
While speaking to Ariel Helwani on ESPN MMA, Ben Askren talked about his fight against Jake Paul. Askren was asked whether he regretted doing the fight. Askren revealed that he doesn’t regret the fight whatsoever.
“No, not at all. Actually, I figured you would ask that question, and the only reason I would not have taken the fight, one and only reason, actually happened, right? And the reason is the ability to have an embarrassing moment and that’s a terrible reason not to do it, in my opinion.”
Askren made it clear that he has no intention of fighting ever again and will focus his energy on being a coach. As for Jake Paul, he called out the likes of Nate Diaz and Daniel Cormier for a fight. We will have to see who he fights next.
