Caitlyn Jenner toyed with the idea of jumping into the California governor race. Now she has made her decision and that decision is to run.
Jenner, who rose to fame by running in a much different setting, announced on Friday that she is running for Governor of California.
The election will go as follows: There is a petition to recall current California Governor Gavin Newsom. The voters will decide if they want him to be recalled, and if they vote “yes,” then the next question will be who do they want to replace him.
Jenner said that she has been a “compassionate disrupter throughout my life,” in a statement about her decision to run. She represented the United States in the Olympics early in her life and won gold medals for her country. Now she is looking to serve in another way.
“I have been a compassionate disrupter throughout my life, from representing the United States and winning a gold medal at the Olympics to helping advance the movement for equality. As Californians, we face a now-or-never opportunity to fundamentally fix our state before it’s too late.”
Jenner also took a little shot at Newsome in the process as she continued, “This isn’t the California we know. This is Gavin Newsom’s California, where he orders us to stay home but goes out to dinner with his lobbyist friends.”
We’ll have to see how this situation turns out for Caitlyn Jenner, but it is an idea that she’s considered for a while now.
