Henry Cejudo was spotted training in the pro wrestling ring with Chavo Guerrero Jr. This was a big surprise for fans who wanted to see him sparring in MMA instead.

Cejudo might make a leap into pro wrestling. In fact, he had that opportunity years ago, but he turned it down.

During Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer discussed how WWE originally wanted Henry Cejudo after he won the gold medal. They had goals of him becoming the next Rey Mysterio, something he declined at the time.

“You know when he got the gold medal in the Olympics, Gerald Brisco recruited him, you know they wanted him to be the next Rey Mysterio and he wanted — at that time — he wanted to do real stuff. So, he started in MMA.”

Henry Cejudo is years older and his MMA career is behind him. He might trade those legit strikes for worked punches soon enough. We’ll just have to see if he can truly become the next Rey Mysterio, which is no small feat despite Mr. 6-1-9’s stature.

Years of experience in writing, journalism, and digging exclusive insider info for Ringside News opened the door for a new opportunity for Jenkins. With a history in finance, he broke into the journalism game by writing on blogs and other freelance websites before branching into sports and entertainment news. Being in tune with pop culture doesn't mean it has to make sense, but he tries. Favorite bands include any group from Seattle who formed between 1991 and 1999. 5 Ozzfests under his belt and 12 Warped Tours, but his last concert was a bluegrass AC/DC cover band that was not 100% terrible.
