Dexter starring Michael C. Hall became an instant hit with fans since its debut in 2006. Running for 8 seasons, it showed Hall’s character, Dexter, who was a deeply damaged serial killer that murdered other serial killers. The ending to season 8 left many fans disappointed and they lost hope for a new season.
Of course, it was then announced that season 9 will be airing this Fall and it will take place directly after the events of season 8. Original showrunner Clyde Phillips will be involved in the revival. Phillips left the show after Season 4, many of whom considered that the starting point for the show’s decline in quality.
With Phillips’ return, many fans are hoping the 9th season will be a return to the series’ roots. Hall is the only original cast member who will be reprising his role in the upcoming season, but fans might get to see more familiar faces.
Showtime took to Twitter and dropped a new trailer for season 9, highlighting the snowy location. Nina Simone’s “Don’t Let Me Be Misunderstood” plays over the clip, giving an idea of Dexter’s constant struggles.
Hall can be seen standing at a window, the glass reflecting one of Dexter’s victims, who is tied up and struggling to get out. The clip ends with Dexter smiling and raising his eyebrows gleefully.
He’s just a soul whose intentions are good. See what #Dexter has been up to when he comes home to SHOWTIME this Fall.
No date has been revealed for the 9th season as of yet. We will have to see if the upcoming season will right all the wrongs done by season 8.
