Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James came under fire last month for a problematic tweet that he made in light of 16-year-old Ma’Khia Bryant being shot dead by police.
James had posted a photo of the Ohio police officer who shot the teenager and tweeted he was next, in a controversial tweet. James would clarify his deleted-tweet in two more tweets. Many police officers went against James and stated that he put their lives in danger with his hateful tweet, while others want James to be punished for his tweet.
According to KGW, detective Jamie McBride went on Fox News and said that LeBron is a hypocrite for the language he used and added that James is intentionally trying to incite violence.
The union letter formally asks NBA commissioner Adam Silver to launch an investigation to see if James’ tweet violated any league policies.
The NBA has yet to comment on this situation surrounding LeBron James. We will have to see if James will actually receive any punishment for his tweet, which might jeopardize his recent return to the basketball court.
