Caitlyn Jenner has been making the news lately, but not all of it is for reasons she would like. Jenner previously revealed that she will be running for Governor of California, which was met with a mixed response from many.
While speaking to TMZ recently, Jenner gave her first public statement on transgender girls competing in school sports. Jenner revealed that she was against biological boys competing in girls’ sports in school.
This is a question of fairness. That’s why I oppose biological boys who are trans competing in girls’ sports in school. It just isn’t fair, and we have to protect girls’ sports in our schools.”
Naturally, Jenner’s comments sparked outrage and she faced a lot of backlash from several people. Trace Lysette took to Twitter and explained how Jenner was completely wrong.
”Cait… this ain’t it. “When you’re on hormones and or blockers there is not an advantage. I ran track at the club level with college girls and trust me there is no advantage. I would have went pro if I was able to run the times I ran before hormones etc.”
Shakina Nayfack, a cast member on Hulu’s Difficult People didn’t have anything good to say either.
“Caitlyn Jenner is classically uninformed, wildly privileged, and tragically self-hating. She can go protect the integrity of f–king herself. Yes, I’m a biological trans woman. Choke on that science, TERFs.”
George Takei also took to Twitter and let his opinion regarding Jenner be heard.
“Caitlyn Jenner is no friend of the LGBTQ community. Don’t call her an [activist]. She’s a menace.”
We certainly hope Caitlyn Jenner will learn empathetic towards other transgender people as she is a transgender rights activist herself. Jenner’s recently comments certainly aren’t doing her any favors.
