Many rappers are resorting to retiring early on in their lives, and J. Cole might be one of them. The rapper, who’s only 36 years old as of yet, had an interview with Slam Magazine to discuss the details regarding his upcoming album The Off-Season.

The rapper is also going to be playing in the African Basketball League, and spoke about it with the magazine as well. He stated that while he is open to retiring whenever he may deem it appropriate, he wouldn’t let anyone see it coming.

Oh, bro, I’m super comfortable with the potential of being done with this sh*t. I’m never going to say, Oh, this is my last album.

The rapper went on to shed some more light on his retiring situation, as the rapper thinks that sooner or later, he might have to hang it up and choose a way of life he thinks it’s best to lean into.

I’m doing all this work to be at peace with. If I never did another album, I’m cool. That’s the reason for all of this, so I know that I put everything on the table.

His upcoming release, The Off-Season, is going to be a prequel to The Fall Off. Even though Cole has been teasing the album since 2018, it definitely implies that he won’t be retiring any time soon before dropping The Fall Off.
