The long-awaited sequel to the classic 90s movie Space Jam will be releasing this year. The film, titled Space Jam: A New Legacy, will feature LeBron James as he works together with classic Looney Tunes characters to rescue his son from the antagonists of the film.
The film also features Bugs Bunny voiced by Eric Bauza and also includes classic Looney Tunes characters—Sylvester, Daffy Duck, and Lola Bunny, who will be voiced by Zendaya.
Development for the film started as early as the the 90s, after the original film. However, plans fell through after Michael Jordan stated didn’t want to come back for the sequel. The sequel finally became a reality after LeBron James signed on to star in the film and despite a few more setbacks and production delays, filming finally started from June to September 2019.
Animator for the film Kevin Martel recently took to Twitter and revealed that post-production for the Space Jam sequel has finally been completed. Martel thanked his ILM team for their efforts in making the film a reality.
Space Jam: A New Legacy is slated to release in theaters and on HBO Max on July 16. We will have to see if it will be a worthy successor to the beloved original film as fans are eagerly waiting for it.
