Kobe Bryant will forever be remembered as one of the best basketball players to have ever stepped foot inside the world of professional basketball. It has been over a year since the world lost Kobe Bryant and his daughter Gianna in a tragic helicopter crash and many people still have a hard time accepting his demise.
One of them is NBA legend Michael Jordan who is still very affected by Kobe Bryant’s tragic passing. While speaking to ESPN’s Jackie MacMullen, Michael Jordan revealed his last text conversation with Kobe Bryant, which took place on Dec. 8, 2019 – 49 days before his tragic passing.
After Jordan sent Kobe Bryant a bottle of tequila, Bryant said, “This tequila is awesome.” To this Jordan replied, “Thank you, my brother.” Kobe then asked about his family, “Yes, sir. Family good?,” to which Jordan said “All good. Yours?”
Kobe would say his family was all good as well. Jordan then said, “Happy holidays, and hope to catch up soon. Coach Kobe??!” Kobe Bryant then replied “Ah, back at you, man. Hey, coach, I’m sitting on the bench right now, and we’re blowing this team out. 45-8.”
Jordan stated that all the text messages, especially the one where Gianna’s team was dominating their opponents mean a lot to him. Jordan then added that he simply can’t bring himself to delete the text messages.
“I just love that text because it shows Kobe’s competitive nature. I don’t know why, but I just can’t delete it.”
Jordan was chosen by Kobe Bryant’s wife Vanessa Bryant to give his induction speech at the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame ceremonies this Saturday in Connecticut. Needless to say, it was a very big honor for Michael Jordan.
“It’s like standing up for a family member. He paid me the highest respect by trying to emulate certain things I did. And I can only repay that by showing my support and admiration for a guy who I felt was one of the greatest to ever play the game.”
Kobe Bryant’s contribution to the world of professional basketball and his ventures outside the sport will forever be remembered in the hearts and minds of friends, family and fans all over the world.
