Arnold Schwarzenegger is going make a historic debut on TV after landing a role in new Netflix series which will be based on spies. The series, which is said to be a “one-hour global spy adventure” will feature the Governator and Top Gun: Maverick actress Monica Barbaro.
Schwarzenegger and Barbaro will appear as a father-daughter duo who were oblivious of the fact that they were secret CIA agents all along. The official synopsis of the series reads:
In the series, created by Nick Santora (Jack Reacher; The Fugitive series), when a father (Schwarzenegger) and daughter (Barbaro) learn that they’ve each secretly been working as CIA Operatives for years, they realize their entire relationship has been a lie and they truly don’t know one another at all. Forced to team up as partners, our series tackles universal family dynamics set against a global backdrop of spies, fantastic action and humor.
Talking to Deadline, Schwarzenegger revealed that while fans wanted something like this for many years, it’s due to Skydance and Netflix that this venture has become possible. He stated:
Fans from all over the world have been asking me for a wild ride like this for years, and now they’re finally going to get it because of our great partners at Skydance and Netflix. I am beyond pumped to start work on the show with Nick and Monica and the whole team.
Despite the pandemic putting a pause on most of the Hollywood production, Arnold has been busy by taking to Instagram to re-enact classic scenes from old movies to encouraging Americans to get vaccinated for a safer future.
