Dexter starring Michael C. Hall became an instant hit with fans since its debut in 2006. Running for 8 seasons, it showed Hall’s character, Dexter, who was a deeply damaged serial killer that murdered other serial killers. The ending to season 8 left many fans disappointed and they lost hope for a new season.
It was then announced that season 9 will be airing this Fall and it will take place directly after the events of season 8. Original showrunner Clyde Phillips will be involved in the revival. Phillips left the show after Season 4, many of whom considered that the starting point for the show’s decline in quality.
Many fans have also been wondering if any of the original cast will be reprising their roles for the upcoming season. Dexter actor James Remar recently stated that the original cast won’t be returning for the next season. However, that was contradicted by Jamie Chung, who stated that the cast from the original seasons will be making a return.
Now it seems Showtime has released a new trailer for the upcoming season and provided more information about Dexter. In the trailer, Dexter can be seen adjusting well to his new place and being very friendly with the townspeople he comes into contact with during the Christmas season. The trailer ends with Dexter looking at a display of knives in the window of a store before it cuts to black and all fans can hear is heavy breathing.
We will have to see if the upcoming season will right all the wrongs done by season 8 and truly end the show on a high note.
