John Cena accidentally said that Taiwan is a country, and that was a big mistake. He was just trying to promote Fast 9, but it almost escalated into an international incident.

Cena was mocked by politicians and political commentators from the right for this move. That chastising was not over because Stephen Colbert and the Late Show staff had something else to say.

Colbert’s show focused on Cena, mocking his apology video to the Chinese people in their native language. It was seen as Cena bowing to China by many. John Cena was certainly in a difficult situation, but he recorded the video and that can’t be changed.

This international controversy is now over, but the jokes are going to keep coming. Stephen Colbert had some fun clipping together various news reports along with Cena’s apology.

The Late Show staff even put new subtitles in so people could really see the underlying message behind so many people having a problem with this apology. They said that Taiwan isn’t even a place, to take a bigger dig at China’s agenda. Then they made some jokes about Zootopia.

You can check out the video below from the Late Show with Stephane Colbert.

Being in tune with pop culture doesn't mean it has to make sense, but he tries. Favorite bands include any group from Seattle who formed between 1991 and 1999. 5 Ozzfests under his belt and 12 Warped Tours, but his last concert was a bluegrass AC/DC cover band that was not 100% terrible.
