Spider-Man: No Way Home will be picking up right after the events of 2019’s Spider-Man: Homecoming. It was stated by reports that Spider-Man: No Way Home will be one of the many upcoming Marvel movies that will focus on the multiverse.
With its focus on the multiverse, many fans have been wondering whether the upcoming Spider-Man film will have previous Spider-Man actors such as Andrew Garfield.
Despite all the rumors, Garfield would deny his involvement in the upcoming film but then changed his mind about possibly appearing in the film. Emma Stone, who portrayed the role of Gwen Stacy opposite Andrew Garfield in the two Spider-Man films, has also denied rumors of making an appearance in the film.
Now it seems more details regarding the upcoming film have been revealed and it will mark the beginning of something huge. While speaking to Variety, Sony Executive Sanford Panitch suggested that Spider-Man: No Way Home will mark the start of a shared Marvel Universe with Sony and the MCU.
There actually is a plan. I think now maybe it’s getting a little more clear for people where we’re headed and I think when ‘No Way Home’ comes out, even more will be revealed. The great thing is we have this very excellent relationship with Kevin [Feige]. There’s an incredible sandbox there to play with. We want those MCU movies to be absolutely huge, because that’s great for us and our Marvel characters, and I think that’s the same thing on their side. But we have a great relationship. There’s lots of opportunities, I think, that are going to happen.
With Spider-Man: No Way Home promising to be one of the most ambitious films in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it is likely they will be bringing in many characters from the previous Spider-Man films. We will have to see how the film will become the bridge between the MCU and Sony’s universes.
