Khabib Nurmagomedov will forever be regarded as one of the best UFC fighters to have competed in the MMA world. Khabib put an end to his career after his match against Justin Gaethje at UFC 254 in 2020.
Dana White announced back in March that Kabib was done for good and there was no going back. Khabib had also previously revealed that he has no interest in continuing his career for money fights.
For those who don’t know, Khabib has his own MMA promotion called Eagle Fighting Championship. While speaking to RT Sport MMA during the end of EFC 36, Khabib Nurmagomedov was asked whether he would compete in a grappling match for his promotion. Khabib doubled down on never fighting again as he stated that Khabib had no interest in diving for sweaty legs again.
“Not interested at all. Why do I need to grapple someone? I’m tired of, as they say, diving for sweaty legs. We grapple in training. Shamil knows, Khasbulaev knows. But to fight in an arena to prove… I don’t even know what to prove. Why do I need to come out (of retirement)? I’m not interested in self-affirmation or money.
Can do but I’m not interested. I think I can just invite a good grappler instead.
We will have to see what is next in store for Khabib now that he is done with the world of MMA for good.
