Jay-Z is undoubtedly one of the most popular and legendary rappers in the Hip-Hop world. On top of his musical prowess, he is also a smart businessman and is worth over a billion dollars for good reason.
He is also the founder of Roc Nation, which is one of the biggest management companies in the music industry and works with several big names. It has names such as Normani, Rihanna, Snoh Aalegra signed to the company while managing artists like Megan thee Stallion, Moneybagg Yo and more. It is certainly a robust system managed by the company.
However, it seems the company now doesn’t have one huge name. According to a report by the Daily Mail, it has been alleged by a source close to Mariah Carey that she quit Jay-Z’s management company after a heated argument between the two.
It was further claimed by the source that the two argued in a meeting discussing the future of Mariah Carey’s career that ultimately made her quit. Carey signed with Roc Nation back in 2017 and her departure comes almost four years after inking the deal.
“Mariah and Jay had an explosive meeting which did not go well at all. She has made it clear she wants nothing more to do with him and has called it quits with Roc Nation.
She will formally depart in the next few weeks. It is a shame because they had done some great work in the last few years. But this meeting couldn’t have gone much worse.
Mariah has been talking to other managers and thinks she has found someone who she feels has full belief in her as she takes her next steps. There is a heavily R&B- influenced album being finalised at the moment and she is planning a world tour for next year, so she isn’t letting this stand in her way,
The singer is no longer included in the list of acts represented by Roc Nation on the website. At this point in time, neither Mariah Carey nor Jay-Z have commented on this matter. We will keep you updated on this ongoing story.
