Jon Jones is one of the most popular fighters in the history of the UFC. For the past couple of months, Jones had been gunning for Francis Ngannou’s UFC Heavyweight Championship.
Jones had revealed in the past that he felt undervalued and simply wanted to be paid better. Unfortunately for Jones, it was previously stated that he will not be facing Ngannou anytime soon as Ngannou will be facing Derrick Lewis this Summer.
Despite Dana White adamantly stating he has moved on from Jon Jones, that didn’t faze Francis Ngannou who recently revealed he still wants to face off against Jon Jones.
While speaking on the post-UFC 263 press conference, Dana White talked about Francis Ngannou’s next challenger for his UFC Heavyweight Championship. White confirmed that Jon Jones won’t be getting a title shot as Derrick Lewis will be challenging Francis Ngannou instead and is hopeful Jones will be ready for the winner.
Dana says Derrick Lewis is getting the next fight against Francis Ngannou, and hopefully Jon Jones will be ready for the winner. #UFC263
Jon Jones also made it clear that he is fine waiting another year until Jones gets to compete in the Octagon again. We will have to see if Jones can somehow face off against Francis Ngannou for the UFC World Heavyweight Championship eventually, as Derrick Lewis will be getting a shot at the title before him.
