Jon Jones is one of the most popular fighters in the history of the UFC. For the past couple of months, Jones had been gunning for Francis Ngannou’s UFC Heavyweight Championship.
To make it happen Jon Jones had been working very hard to make it to the Heavyweight division in the UFC. The journey has certainly been a very difficult one for him.
Jones had revealed in the past that he felt undervalued and simply wanted to be paid better. Unfortunately for Jones, it was previously stated that he will not be facing Ngannou anytime soon as Ngannou will be facing Derrick Lewis this Summer.
Dana White officially confirmed that Jon Jones will not be Francis Ngannou’s next opponent. In light of this, a fan took to Twitter and asked Jon Jones how many times he wants to defend the UFC Heavyweight Championship.
Jon Jones saw the fan’s tweet and decided to reply to him, as Jones revealed that while he doesn’t know how his run in the Heavyweight division will turn out, Jones added that he wants to win 20 title fights in his career.
Only God knows what this heavyweight journey is going to look like. I’ve always had this thing where I wanted to win 20 championships. I’m taking zero damage and getting better every day, future Bones business will be nuts
Jon Jones currently has 14 successful title defences in his career so far, as his second fight against Daniel Cormier was ruled a ‘no contest’ after Jones tested positive for turinabol metabolite.
So it seems he will have to defend the UFC Heavyweight Championship at least 6 more times for him to reach his goal. We will have to see if Jones can somehow face off against Francis Ngannou for the UFC World Heavyweight Championship eventually.
