As F9 awaits its release in the US & UK, it has been making quite a handsome revenue in international waters. With its star-studded cast consisting of John Cena, Vin Diesel, Charlize Theron & even Cardi B, the franchise has headed into its final phase, ending with a trilogy of which F9 is the first part.
While the franchise includes big stars for their appearances, it has had a history of giving them a character arc that spans several films, and according to Vin Diesel, Cardi B might return for such a featurette in Fast 10. In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, he said:
We are very much excited to evolve her character and to expand it to the finale. She made it just in time. She came in Fast 9 just in time.
As per the film’s director Justin Lin, there was no trouble in the inclusion of Cardi B into the film, which has been building up on 20 years worth of material. He told Entertainment Tonight:
She showed up, and within a minute, she’s part of the family, right? And I love how when I got together with her, her and Vin were talking about the character because she’s actually really embedded into the overall universe. She’s been around for a long time and this is just the first time we are seeing her, so I’m really excited to explore that character of her.
After its release on May in Asia, the film grossed a total of $162.4 million in Korea, the Middle East, Hong Kong, and China. The film grossed exceptionally well in China, with getting Box Office collections of a total of $135.6 million.
