DMX will always remain one of the most popular rappers in the history of the Hip-Hop world and his influence will be remembered forever. The rapper passed away after being hospitalized due to an apparent drug overdose back in April. The Hip Hop world is still mourning his loss.
Funerals are certainly expensive affairs and now it seems DMX’s longtime label Def Jam Records contributed a lot of money for his funeral.
According to a report by TMZ, Def Jam paid the whole $35,228.13 bill sent to DMX’s family from Brooks Memorial Home Inc. in Yonkers, New York City. Expenses included the transfer of remains to the funeral home, embalming, flowers and hearse, with the red casket that was carried on the monster truck costing around $7,450.
DMX’s first five albums which included I’s Dark and Hell Is Hot, Flesh of My Flesh, Blood of My Blood, … And Then There Was X, The Great Depression and Grand Champ, were all released on Def Jam.
His posthumous album Exodus was also released on the label last month. It is certainly great to know Def Jam did so much for their longtime partner and friend.
