LeBron James keeps track of all NBA news and he also loves to fire off a clever tweet when the mood strikes. This story is about both of those things with a big faux pas from an ESPN analyst in the mix as well.
Former NBA player and current ESPN analyst Jay Williams’ Twitter account sent out a bit of false information about the Celtics new head coach. His account said: “The first head coach of color for the Celtics & even more importantly.. he is one talented individual who has paid his dues.”
That is not a true statement about the Celtics as Ime Udoka is actually the sixth person of color to coach the Boston Celtics basketball team. Many people had fun with that statement from Williams and the tweet was deleted.
Williams later tweeted out to claim that he was the victim of a hacking.
As it relates to the Boston Celtics tweet that came from my account a couple of hours ago… I did not post that & my passcode has now been changed.
Radio personality Cuffs The Legend tweeted out to say: “Jay Williams didn’t say Ime Udoka is the first Black Boston Celtics coach. Nope. That’s gotta be photoshopped.” LeBron James then fired back a reply to say, “Has to be right!?!? It better be.”
We’re not sure if this was really an instance of hacking Jay Williams’ Twitter account or not. Plenty of fans are having a lot of fun with the situation, that’s for sure.
What’s your take on this story? Did Jay Williams really tweet that out? Sound off in the comments!
