Anderson Silva is regarded as one of the all-time greats in the world of MMA who competed against several top names in the MMA world when he used to be active. Silva was released from the UFC last year in November after he lost to Uriah Hall in his final match.
Anderson Silva squared off against Julio Cesar Chavez Jr., son of the legendary boxer Julio Cesar Chavez Sr. on June 19 in a boxing match. He was clearly the underdog heading into the match as many believed Chavez Jr. would have an easy victory.
However, that was definitely not the case as Silva showed the world he is still as powerful a striker as Silva always has been, even at 46 years of age. He would defeat Chavez Jr. in triumphant fashion.
Boxing legend Oscar De La Hoya is gearing up to make a comeback to the world of professional boxing but it seems he already a few opponents in mind, including some big names. While speaking to FightHype, La Hoya revealed that he wants to make the biggest comeback in the history of the sport.
Oscar De La Hoya also revealed that after his first return match, he wants to square off against Anderson Silva in November of this year.
“I wanna make the biggest comeback in the history of the sport. I mean if I get past Belfort which I’m a little like… not scared, but just like, ‘What did I get myself into?’ But I’m sure I’ve got a lot of confidence. I’m gonna go in there and fight hard.
And then [I’ll] go again in November because November 28th I believe is the one-year anniversary of Triller getting into the picture with Mike Tyson. So I wanna be in that one-year anniversary and maybe challenge Anderson Silva.”
Oscar De La Hoya is set to square off against Vitor Belfort on September 11th. We will have to wait and see if he does face off against Anderson Silva and possibly Floyd Mayweather.
