Lil Nas X is currently one of the most highly-discussed rappers in the music industry, but not all of it is for reasons he would like. His latest “MONTERO (Call My By Your Name)” music video made him a huge subject of controversy as he could be seen giving a lap dance to Lucifer in the video.
During the BET awards, the controversial rapper put on a stellar performance of his “MONTERO (Call My By Your Name)” song. In a nice addition to the performance, he made out with one of his male backing dancers. While the response has been largely positive, there were some haters who were very offended at what he did.
One hater took to Twitter and blasted Lil Nas X for kissing the dancer and the aesthetics of his performance, stating that he shouldn’t use African culture for things like this. The rapper promptly roasted the person as he stated that homosexuality existed in African culture.
y’all really like to pretend homosexuality didn’t exist in african culture
A 2015 article from The Guardian cited various examples that support the rapper’s claim that homosexuality is indeed part of African culture. We certainly commend Lil Nas X for his performance at the BET awards and for calmly handling his haters.
