Francis Ngannou defeated Stipe Miocic for the UFC Heavyweight Championship at UFC 260 earlier in the year and since then Jon Jones set his sights on facing Ngannou for the title.
However, a lot of drama ensued when it came to actually making the fight happen as Jones had revealed in the past that he felt undervalued and simply wanted to be paid better for the fight.
However, much to Jon Jones’ dismay, it was previously stated that he will not be facing Ngannou anytime soon as Ngannou was set to face Derrick Lewis this Summer. Now it seems that might not be happening either.
While speaking to ESPN’s Brett Okamoto, UFC President Dana White announced that the company will be adding an interim heavyweight title fight between Darrick Lewis and Ciryl Gane to UFC 265. This was due to the fact that Ngannou told the UFC he wouldn’t be ready to defend the title by August.
Now it seems Francis Ngannou reacted to the news as he took to Twitter and expressed his disappointment at the announcement as he referenced the time when he requested the UFC to book an interim title fight between himself and Jairzinho Rozenstruik but the idea was shot down.
“I remember my interim title fight against Jairzinho… oh wait.
Nothing has been right here”
With an interim title fight scheduled to take place at UFC 265, the ongoing drama between the UFC and Francis Ngannou seems to only increase with each passing day. We will keep you updated on this ongoing story.
