Donkey Kong fans rejoice! Their favorite video game primate has been a staple of Nintendo’s since the early days of the company after they transitioned their focus from playing cards. Now the company is planning even more for DK.
According to new rumors from Nintendo leaker Zippo, Nintendo is formulating a full-on Donkey Kong multimedia blitz. A new game, following 2015’s Tropical Freeze, is also expected. That’s not all that Nintendo has in store.
A new animated project of some kind is also rumored to be in the works. It is unknown if this will be a series of a full animated movie. The Donkey Kong 64 game introduced some characters like Chunky, Landy, and Tiny Kong and they could use a revival.
This would not be Donkey Kong’s first journey into animation. “Donkey Kong Country” was a TV show in the 90’s, but it just didn’t seem to click with fans and most have forgotten about it.
Donkey Kong seldom gets the love that the franchise deserves. Now it appears that new projects are on the way. It was also noted that Zippo was “surprised” that the new Donkey Kong game wasn’t a part of Nintendo’s E3 2021 Direct.
