Mike Tyson is undoubtedly one of the most popular and legendary boxers in the history of professional boxing. Tyson is known for his insane power and intimidating stature that has sown fear in the hearts of his opponents.
Last year, Mike Tyson squared off against Roy Jones Jr. in an eight-round exhibition bout at the Staples Center in Los Angeles on November 28. The fight ended in an unexpected split draw, but it certainly surpassed all expectations.
While speaking to RT Sport, Roy Jones Jr. talked about his experience facing the legendary boxer. Jones Jr. stated that Tyson’s punches still have a lot of destructive force behind them and getting punched by him felt like getting kicked by a horse.
“So I wasn’t so mad about the situation, I was so happy because I always wanted to see what it felt like to be punched by Mikey. And Mikey, when he hits you, you feel like a horse kicking you. You know when a horse kicks and hits, it can kill you. And that’s how Mike’s punches feel. So when Mike hits you, it’s like nothing you’ve ever felt before. Specially being a smaller guy. A smaller stature than he is. He is a much bigger guy.”
Jones Jr. added that as a boxer ages, it is likely he will get slower but his knockout power is never gone, further stating that Mike Tyson is still a very dangerous competitor inside the boxing ring. We will have to see who Mike Tyson will face next.
