Gossip Girl remains an absolute favorite for many, even after the show concluded almost ten years ago. A sequel has been in the works for quite some time now and it is slated to release this year.
The sequel will feature an all-new cast of characters and several details regarding the upcoming sequel. As revealed earlier, Kristin Bell is set to return as she will be narrating the upcoming sequel.
While speaking to People, Gossip Girl sequel creator Joshua Safran talked about the rumor of the sequel possibly having cast members from the original show making cameos. Safran explained why the sequel won’t have the original cast members as he wants the new characters to not be in the show of the original characters.
“Hopefully we’ll get there and will reach out to the cast if that time comes and see if they’ll want to come. There are some cameos in season 1 from people on the original show, but not the series regulars. The audience would never accept these [new] characters if they were in the shadow of the original characters. They’re already in the shadow of the original characters, but if the original characters were there with them in some way, why would you want to briefly get to know Zoya if you suddenly can see Nate?”
The sequel is set to air this month and with the previous show having ramifications in the upcoming sequel, we will have to see how the sequel series will turn out to be and whether it will be a worthy successor to the original.
