Kevin Durant had been out of the court for more than a year, as he was busy recovering from an Achilles injury. His return to the Nets was amazing, but because of complications with other players, the Nets took off early while facing the Milwaukee Bucks.
However, Durant isn’t stopped for anything, and he has joined the Team USA as he aims for the Summer Olympics which will be occurring in Tokyo. Since the player has gone through so many injuries in the last few years, many people were surprised by his decision.
The basketball player came forward to explain to The Athletic that he came to such an important decision because it would keep him in top shape for the next season.
Every chance that I can get that I’m healthy and my mind’s in the right place to play basketball, I’m going to go out there and play. Finished the year off healthy, the regular season and the playoffs, so I felt it would be cool to get, I guess, a kickstart on next season by getting in shape a little earlier in the summer with Team USA.
While the decision leaves the fans shocked, Team USA still has amazing odds for winning the Gold Medal, as they have the likes of Jayson Tatum, Bradley Beal, Damian Lillard, and James Harden. The USA has an edge against other countries as it takes its competitive basketball very seriously, so Team USA will secure the gold medal.
