The long-standing rivalry between Conor McGregor and Dustin Poirier remains one of the most highly discussed topics in the MMA world. It culminated in their fight at UFC 264 on July 10th.
UFC 264 was certainly a night of memorable fights and an event to be remembered. Many fans expected an absolute classic of a fight between the two competitors but that is not what they got.
In a very shocking finish to the fight, Conor McGregor fractured his ankle at the end of the first round and Dustin Poirier was declared the winner via TKO after the fight ended due to doctor’s stoppage.
While speaking at the UFC 264 post-fight press conference, UFC President Dana White talked about the shocking ending to the fight. White stated that a fourth match between the two will happen once Conor McGregor undergoes surgery and makes a full recovery.
“The fight didn’t get finished, you can’t have a fight finished that way. You know, we’ll see how this whole thing plays out, who knows how long Conor’s out. Poirier will do his thing until Conor is ready.”
Conor McGregor ultimately lost the fight and that is never going to change. We will have to wait and see when McGregor will face Poirier again in their fourth fight together.
