The long-standing rivalry between Conor McGregor and Dustin Poirier remains one of the most highly discussed topics in the MMA world. It culminated in their fight at UFC 264 on July 10th in a highly anticipated fight.
The main event truly had a big fight feel as many fans wondered just who would come out on top. In the end, Dustin Poirier would win the fight in a shocking manner after Conor McGregor fractured his ankle at the end of the first round. Poirier won the fight via TKO.
However, it seems something was amiss during the fight as well. While speaking in the post-fight press conference, Dustin Poirier accused Conor McGregor of cheating during the fight.
McGregor was alleged to have illegally grabbed his gloves and pulled Dustin Poirier into upkicks.
“That’s why I let him up at the end of the round. I let him up because he had three fingers in my glove. It’s a good grip on the cuff of the tape. Pulling me down into upkicks. He’s pulling me and kicking up at the same time. You know, I’m not surprised that he does stuff like that. I was telling Herb that ‘I can’t get out of it.’ When I told Herb, maybe Conor pulled his fingers out.”
Conor McGregor was not very graceful in his defeat either and will be having surgery very soon. We will have to see when McGregor and Dustin Poirier will be having their fourth fight together.
