DMX was taken far too soon and his loss is still an incredibly hard one to take. The rap world would not be the same today if X wasn’t around to lay down those classic tracks. Now his memory is being celebrated in a big way.

It was recently revealed that DMX passed away due to a heart attack associated with a cocaine overdose. That was shocking and terrible news to receive. Through it all, his contributions to culture have not been overlooked at all.

New York mural artist Floyd Simmons put up an amazing piece of work to celebrate DMX. The late rapper is painted in a beautiful realistic way with some of his iconic quotes circling him.

Simmons was only supposed to take a week to do this mural, but due to the sweltering heat it took two weeks. That work was well worth it as he revealed the mural on Tuesday morning in Calcagno Homes on School Street, the same public housing where DMX once lived according to TMZ.

DMX is gone, but he will never be forgotten. Hopefully, his life will inspire others and his tragic passing will be a cautionary tale for many, because you never know when life will suddenly end. RIP.

Years of experience in writing, journalism, and digging exclusive insider info for Ringside News opened the door for a new opportunity for Jenkins. With a history in finance, he broke into the journalism game by writing on blogs and other freelance websites before branching into sports and entertainment news. Being in tune with pop culture doesn't mean it has to make sense, but he tries. Favorite bands include any group from Seattle who formed between 1991 and 1999. 5 Ozzfests under his belt and 12 Warped Tours, but his last concert was a bluegrass AC/DC cover band that was not 100% terrible.
