The Mighty Ducks trilogy remains an instant classic for many who grew up watching family-focused sports films, with the final film airing back in 1996. As reported earlier, Disney revived the franchise with a sequel on Disney+
The series features the original cast including Emilio Estevez, Elden Henson, Matt Doherty and more. However, Shaun Weiss wasn’t able to reprise his role for the show.
The first season of the show concluded back in May and many fans wondered why Joshua Jackson wasn’t present during the reunion episode of the show.
While speaking to Esquire, Joshua Jackson explained why he wasn’t a part of the reunion episode of the Mighty Ducks show. Jackson revealed that he couldn’t appear on the episode as Jackson was in the process of playing a sociopathic spinal surgeon in the upcoming Peacock series, Dr. Death.
“I was in the process of playing a sociopathic spinal surgeon so I wasn’t available to be in the first season of the Mighty Ducks [Game Changers].”
During the first season, original stars Elden Henson, Marguerite Moreau, Matt Doherty, Garrett Henson, Vincent LaRusso and Justin Wong all appeared in one episode, but not Jackson. We will have to wait and see if Joshua Jackson will be appearing in the second season of the show, should it be greenlit.
