Dexter starring Michael C. Hall became an instant hit with fans since its debut in 2006. Running for 8 seasons, it showed Hall’s character, Dexter, who was a deeply damaged serial killer that murdered other serial killers. The ending to season 8 left many fans disappointed and they lost hope for a new season.
It was then announced that season 9 will be airing this Fall and it will take place directly after the events of season 8. Original showrunner Clyde Phillips will be involved in the revival. Phillips left the show after Season 4, many of whom considered that the starting point for the show’s decline in quality.
Many fans have also been wondering if any of the original cast will be reprising their roles for the upcoming season. Dexter actor James Remar recently stated that the original cast won’t be returning for the next season. However, that was contradicted by Jamie Chung, who stated that the cast from the original seasons will be making a return.
It was also previously reported that John Lithgow will be making his return to the series as the Trinity Killer. Now it seems a major character will be making her return to the show as well.
According to a report by The Hollywood Reporter, Jennifer Carpenter will be reprising her role as Debra Morgan, Dexter Morgan’s sister. The series ended in Debra’s shocking death, which fans did not sit well with at all.
As Debra Morgan is dead, it is likely that she will be appearing as a ghost or part of flashbacks. We will have to see how effective Debra Morgan’s role will be in the revival. With the show expected to air in the Fall of this year, we will have to wait and see whether it will right the wrongs of season 8 or not.
